Blue & White Dragon Phoenix Basin

The Dragon & Phoenix bowl looks as though it has been locked away in a temple for centuries! One side depicts a dragon, and the opposite side depicts phoenix. It's a classic oversized bowl with straight sides and a thick rim made from foot-stomp porcelain clay. This porcelain clay is mixed by hand and wedged by foot introducing small mineral particles that appear as rust colored spots after being fired. The deep blue hand painted motifs insure no two pieces are identical! Finished with a hand applied rust colored antiquing wash. We like to call this collection "rustic chinoiserie" noting its classical design contrasted with its ancient appearance.
